XGMI was included in the AMDGPU Linux latest patch but what is XGMI anyway?
XGMI is a p2p high speed interconnect that is based on AMD’s Infinity Fabric and it is the competing solution against NVLINK from NVIDIA.
Earlier leaked slides of VEGA 20 suggested PCI-E 4.0 support along with XGMI and it seems to be the case now as it exists in the latest AMDGPU patch and it can be found here, but will likely be queued via -next for introduction in the Linux 4.20~5.0 kernel.
There are no other information regarding VEGA 20, still we shouldn’t worry about AMD not bringing new graphics to the market.
They well eventually.
